It is caused by cracking due to cold contraction and thermal expansion while starting up and shutting down.
This can also happen due to corrosion and stress impact.
The blockage of the pipeline valve
Crystallization happens with increases in material concentration.
This results in the blockage of the heater, valves, pipelines, etc.
When this happens, the materials will not circulate thereby affecting the smooth operation of evaporation.
Method of troubleshooting for the evaporator’s high temperature
It could be that the expansion valve opening is too large.
Also, mean that there’s too much refrigerant coming into the evaporator.
This can be caused by a very high condensation temperature.
Due to this, there is an increase in the evaporation temperature.
Very low evaporation temperature
This could be caused by three things:
- The expansion valve’s opening is too small or blockage of the expansion valve.
- There is not enough refrigerant substituting liquid. Due to this, just a little refrigerant enters the evaporator. This causes part of the surface area not to be able to partake in heat exchange.
- The chilled water’s temperature present in the evaporator is either frozen or too low.
What Does Superheat In Air Cooled Chillers Mean?
Superheat in air cooled chillers refers to when there’s poor heat dissipation in the condenser.
It could also be that the compressor’s efficiency is low, or there’s an increase in the running current.
When its high-pressure pressure increases to 24kg/cm2, this could happen; the compressor trips off below the high-pressure switch’s protection, which will halt the running of the compressor.
The high-pressure overload caused as a result of poor heat dissipation will reveal the fault indication or fault code.
How Can I Improve An Air Cooled Chiller’s Efficiency?
To improve the efficiency of air cooled chillers, please follow these:
- Make sure you clean your air cooled chiller regularly.
- Don’t start and stop the switch button frequently.
- Ensure that there are ventilation and drying in the refrigerator room.
- Don’t stack combustibles or sundries close to your air cooled chiller.
- Check from time to time to ensure the system’s water supply is normal. The system should never experience a water shortage.
- Before you start the air cooled chiller, preheat the compressor. Then you turn on the power supply.
- Clean your chiller’s inner fin heat exchanger regularly. This is to ensure heat exchange.
- Never allow non-professional personnel to dismantle or change the unit. If your unit has any problem, get a professional to check and solve the problem immediately.
- Ensure that no stacking materials or high wall are in front of the chiller’s exhaust fan. This could cause a blockage of the exhaust passage. The refrigeration effect could be affected as well.
- If you will be shutting down the unit for long, try to drain the pipeline’s water. This is to prevent cracking and freezing due to a drop in temperature.
Why Don’t We Have Air Cooled Chillers Larger Than 500 Ton R?
The capacity at which chillers begin to make sense economically is 500 tons.
If you want an air cooled chiller that produces over 500 tons, then you could do it.
This is because the heat transfer surface limits air cooled chillers.
Air cooled chillers reject heat by the air coming in from both sides.
It cools the hot condenser coil which the condenser fans have blown up.
All you need is to install many chillers with many pumps.
At least, this gives you partial capacity in case one of the systems breaks.
